This week, I bring Aeternum back to the table, showcasing a playful scene. In in, David and Jonathan are about to do some karaoke (of the Queen and Bowie kind)… in front of the friends and family of Jonathan’s Juilliard school friends.
PS… I broke the rules by two-ish sentences.
“Wow, that’s a bold choice, but I do have the track… if you’re sure.” The emcee blinked at Jonathan, watching him steal David’s fedora before pressing a kiss to his white-blonde hair.
“I’m sure,” Jonathan confirmed. “I would do nothing to shame this beautiful man.”
David faced his boyfriend, protesting, “But… what about me? I don’t want to shame you, either.”
“You won’t. Do it like we always do at home.” Jonathan smiled at him, pushing David’s hair over his ear. “And look at me when you’re singing. Don’t look at the crowd.”
“I’m just… Mercury in front of everyone? I just don’t want to emb—” David bit his lower lip.
Jonathan smiled at him, shaking his head and placing one finger to David’s lips. “You could never.”

M. LeAnne Phoenix would tell you that the worst time of her life was the two years that she attempted to take off from writing. If you asked her to explain exactly why she did such a thing, you would most likely get the mad attempt to arch an eyebrow like her dad and then a shake of the head as she told you it was unlucky to speak of such things. Suffice it to say, it will never happen again!
Born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas in the mid-1970's, Ms. Phoenix was young and wild (and even free!) during the crazy wondrous decade known as the 1980's and the even crazier but now grungy decade of the 1990's. Music is second only to the muses that live and breathe to fill her mind with beautiful men, and music always helps them to tell their stories. She is never without her iPod or her computer no matter where she goes, although, she does like to hike and take pictures of the sky and the moon, and even the occasional shot of the sun through the branches of a tree.
An avid cat lover, Ms. Phoenix has been owned by many throughout her life, though her current owner is one Gypsy Jo, who really would like for her to step away from the keyboard and pay her some attention! After all, hasn't she earned it?

Sing for us, baby! You’ll do great.
He’s sooooo nervous about it! I love writing that scene. 💖
What a sweet scene! I love the uncertainty and reassurance, and the sense that they are in tune (no pun intended) with each other.
Thankee! 😊 I loved writing it! Jonathan does love his karaoke and his Bowie. 💖
They’re so sweet together. I bet their performance will be great 🙂
They do have a ton of fun doing it. Once he gets started, David relaxes, though he does not ever look anywhere but at Jonathan. ❤
Oh that’s so sweet. Nice dialogue x
Thankee! 🙂 Sometimes, David and Jonathan are fairly easy to write.
I love the gentle reassurances he gives David.
Jonathan is extremely mindful of David, of what he will and will not do, of what he can and cannot do. He’s always been protective of him, and while they’ve been in New York, they’ve grown closer (if that’s possible), and David has grown stronger. It was wonderful to see him even agree to do karaoke with Jonathan, and I think both Jonathan and I expected him to change his mind. 🙂 I’m so proud of him for not.
I wish everyone to have a lover like Jonathan. He sounds fantastic. David is really under a lot of pressure, no? 🙂
LMAO! Yep, he is… being Freddie Mercury to Jonathan’s David Bowie? Oh, heck yeah, but Jonathan’s not going to let David doubt himself for a second! ❤
Aw. This is really sweet.
Thankee, thankee! 😊
I wish I could hear them! Such a sweet scene. Love the way Jonathan takes care of David.
It’s a little bit funny, as I haven’t been able to do anything but listen to that song when I drive to work. All I hear is their voices and all I see is the two of them singing it. 😊
This sounds like a lovely book. 🙂
That was a fantastic snippet. It has made me want to rush out and buy the book. I want more of these two.
I am working on finishing it presently! 💖 Thankee!
